Originally the Cup Chimes were part of the [[Paiste 2002#2002|2002]] series. Later they got moved into the [[Paiste Exotic Percussion#Exotic Percussion|Exotic Percussion]] series, only to return to the [[Paiste 2002#2002|2002]] fold a few years later.
Originally they were numbered from 1 to 7 and the sizes calculated from centimeter to fraction of inches. The inch sizes eventually got streamlined to full or half inches later on. The following table shows the numbering and different measurements:
