1979: Death of the head of the Zildjian Company, Avedis Armand Zildjian. Avedis' eldest son, Armand, takes over as president of the company.
ca. 1981: Robert Zildjian, Armand's younger brother by 2 years, takes over the K. Zildjian facility in Meductic, New Brunswick, Canada. The Sabian name is chosen as it is made from letters of Robert's children's names: SAlly, Wilson (BIlly), and ANdy.
1982: 1st availability (except the U.S.A.)
1983: Available in U.S.A.; 1st industry appearance at Summer NAMM that year.
