Review: Just for the record, this weighs the same as Paiste's medium weight ride cymbals. Mine weighs in at 3051g. Although one would expect it to be extra heavy, like the RUDE Crash/Rides, this really is not. A Twenty 22" Ride weighs significantly more! I had one of these for awhile 15 years ago, when I was looking for the Stewart Copeland sound. To be blunt, if you love what his ride sounds like on the "Synchronicity Concert" home video from the 1983/84 tour, you might be disappointed with this one. It has a bit more wash than I was expecting. I do like this cymbal though, as it can be used across more genres than one would expect from a RUDE cymbal.
Imagine a 2002 22" Ride that isn't lathed, and voilà! Your end result will be this cymbal. In comparison, the 2002 22" Ride I had had a bit more stick definition, and was higher pitched, perhaps too high pitched, for my taste. I'll see what this sounds like recorded through a condenser microphone to see if my opinion changes. As far as the RUDE rides go, I prefer the heavier 22" Power Ride The Reign over this one, but this one will stay with me for those times that a ride is needed that has a nice wash and decent stick definition. (and the bell is quite useful as well)
