Review: The Mega Cup Chime is indeed a unique cymbal. It has 8 "rings", alternating between tightly lathed ones, and wholly unlathed ones. (The raw looking "rings" look a lot like Paiste's own Dry Dark Ride.)
The bottom of this heavy beast is raw in appearance, and shows the hammering quite well. The bell is enormous, and the flange is pronounced.
So, how does it sound? Hitting it on the edge produces a church bell-like sound, with plenty of dissonant (but pleasing) overtones. Tapping it with the tip of the stick subdues these overtones, and the sound "tightens" as you move towards the center of the cymbal. (By the time you reach the top of the bell, there are very few overtones.)
The bell measures 7"/17.78cm so there's plenty of space to find your sound.
