Review: "I had the opportunity to use the Mastersound hi-hats in a show situation. I was initially concerned that 12" hi-hats wouldn’t work out as a primary set—effects hats in an auxiliary role, perhaps. Well, all I can say is, don’t be fooled by their size!
The Mastersound hi-hats filled in everywhere I used them. The show afforded me the chance to try them at different volume levels, and they sang in all situations. Their voice was high, cutting, and clean. Stick definition on the medium-thin top cymbal was great, and the hammered grooves in the medium-weight bottom cymbal prevented air lock. I made a point to play on both the top and the bottom cymbals, and I got some very nice bell tones out of the bottom cymbal. Speaking of bells, they were clear and piercing on each cymbal. The hi-hats also worked well when I used brushes."
