Review: "Raunchy cymbal barks? No: Sloshy swamp grooves? Don't think so. Manly chick sounds? Not quite. Middle-ground ticki-tick-ticking that in a blindfold test could be mistaken for entry-level kiddie-kit cymbals? Now you're in the ballpark. Actually, in context this isn't a bad thing at all. Once again, drum 'n' bass isn't about competing with Marshall stacks. The aesthetic is robotic, almost antiseptic studio mutations of funky kit grooves, and to that effect, these hats blend nicely with super-fast ghost notes on tiny utility snare drums—just what the doctor ordered. One strange side-note, though: No matter how hard we pressed on the hi-hat pedal, these cymbals never got a real tight, closed tick sound. Chalk it up to the small size and lightweight. An intentional attempt to further meld with the snare drum? Hmmm...."
