Background:

  • Made from our CuSn8 bronze, Alpha cymbals are essentially a member of the 2002 sound family. Designed as a benchmark for what Paiste considers basic professional sound quality and function, Alpha models are created with wide-ranging musical versatility in mind. They are hand hammered and hand lathed, making them unique in their price category.
The general sound feelings are bright, energetic, powerful and cutting. Alpha cymbals have the clarity, projection, warmth and the tonal definition one expects from a professional caliber instrument; great sounding cymbals for a moderate investment.
The Alpha series continues to draw from the innovations Paiste made in expanding the 2002 and Sound Formula series, allowing us to enhance the Alpha series with the developments derived from our latest sound research.
By continuing to expand the sound capabilities of the Alpha series, Paiste allows you to explore your creative musical skills even at the basic professional level. Shown here are some of the newest additions to the Alpha series: the Flat Ride brings an elegant appeal to the Alpha, while the Crystal Crashes provide unusual harmonics for a crash cymbal. The Power Splashes enhance the forceful side of the Alpha series, and the 14" China adds an interesting small china sound. (3)
  • Synonymous with dependability, Alpha cymbals are well known for first-class sound and fair prices since 1992 • 2006 brings Alpha's to a new level, advances these trusted qualities, and presents a completely revamped Alpha.
  • Alpha Cymbals were first launched by PAISTE in 1991. Since then, the Alpha Series has been highly successful on an international scale. Today, the Alpha brand is synonymous with dependability, and the cymbals are well known for their first-class sound and fair prices. In 2006, PAISTE presents a completely revamped Alpha, which advances these trusted qualities and takes Alpha cymbals to a new level. In recent years, we have invested heavily into the perfection of our hi-tech processes, seeking to faithfully reproduce the principles of our Swiss hand craftsmanship in modern production. The new Alpha cymbals are manufactured using this state-of-the-art technology. They are then enhanced using traditional hand hammering. The combination of hi-tech and traditional methods brings about never before realized quality levels in a highly efficient production environment. Alpha cymbals thus fulfill high demands in quality and function while taking into the account the financial realities of today‘s active drummers. In the design of the models and the assortment, we have kept the global demands of today‘s music in the forefront of our minds. Global music increasingly combines stylistic and cultural backgrounds into new musical forms. Cymbals with wider application range are needed. By applying modern design concepts to the individual models, we fulfill these requirements convincingly. The assortment offers a wide variety of models and sizes, and covers a wide range of music styles. It allows the drummer an optimal variety of sounds in the cymbal set. Even so, we have still kept the more than fair Alpha prices intact. PAISTE makes cymbals out of passion. We constantly search for better sound. Our satisfaction is derived not only from our quest for perfection, but also from the knowledge that PAISTE drummers pursue their musical satisfaction in the same passionate way. (2)
